Color Dye Correction
There are many people who have tried to clean their own investment rugs and have witnessed a disaster – colors that have run into each other.
A rug and carpet’s colors can run for many reasons during cleaning and one of them is when people think that all rugs are the same. They’re not all the same and they all require their own special care when it comes to cleaning them.
There are wool rugs, cotton rugs, silk rugs and sisal rugs among others and each one will require different cleaning procedures. Wool rugs have their own challenges, and professional rug cleaners need special rug dye expertise with wool rugs.
Dyes that run are our forte
At Antique Rug Cleaning we’ve had wool rug owners bringing their rugs to us because they tried to wash them themselves and the colors have run. We know everything there is to know about rugs and we know that high alkalinity, the wrong water exposure as well as high heat can all cause a rug’s dye to bleed.
When rugs come to us, they’re faded and they look listless from dirt and even sun damage. We can help with restoring the textile to its original colors.
Faded, stained rugs – we correct their colors
We’ve seen bleach-spots and stubborn stains on rugs of many patterns and colors and they can be restored.
Also, if you have some permanent stains on your rug, we can do color dye correction and redye your entire rug if needs be. As rug dyeing experts we make use of state-of-the-art technology to determine the colors in the threads and what colors will be needed to bring the rug back to its original color.
We establish how good the colors will hold. We feel the fibers and if they break easily, they are distressed. We can see that sometimes the warps and wefts are showing through and that they have a dye application over them. It simply means that worn over-dyed rugs will release color on their first wash and we identify this problem before the wash.
We’re the ultimate rug experts
Oriental- and Persian rugs have many colors and over the years the colors can fade. Sun, age and the use of the wrong detergents cause color damage to your rugs but at Antique Rug Cleaning we’ve got all the gentlest, organic ways to restore the color and bring your rug back to a rug of many bright colors.
